Detlef Lohse, professor of Fluid Science at University of Twente, was appointed at the Tsinghua University in Beijing as Chair Professor of Fluid Engineering. He will regularly stay in China. In addition to this inauguration, both universities have discussed closer cooperation.

Groningen University plans to open a new campus in a Chinese city Yantai. The plan was further closer because the House of Representatives of the Netherlands (de Tweede Kamer) has agreed to amend the law.

On Wednesday 2 November, the economic department at the Netherlands Embassy organized a sustainability standards seminar.
The topic of the seminar was “The role of sustainability standards in responsible mining supply chain management and market access” and it was organized together with the CCCMC (branch organization of Chinese mineral resources), Iseal (global leader in defining and communicating sustainability standards, with members like Fairtrade, Better Coton Initiative, Sustainable Palmoil, UTZ, Rainforest Alliance) and the Swedish CSR center.
